On the Road to Playa Del Carmen
Amy and I caught an ADO bus from Cancun to Playa Del Carmen which takes approximatly 45 minutes and costs 40
pesos. Yet again we do the normal routine of gathering our belongings and
making our way to Hostel "Rio Playa" which is a short walk from the bus terminal.
As this was our third stop so far, Playa del Carmen was quite busy, and to be honest a place I was happy we had only chosen to stay for a couple of days. It has beautiful beaches and many activities, yet as it's a big tourist attraction, the prices are reflective and very expensive.
Rio Playa is a
decent hostel, based right in the heart of Playa Del Carmen. This hostel attracted
Amy and I as many people said it was a great place to meet other
travelers, it was close to everything & had a roof top
pool. It didn't disappoint! At the rooftop bar the hostel does happy hour
from 6-7pm which costs 35 pesos for all you can drink & ladies drink for
free from 10-11. Sometimes along the way there will always be problems with a hostel, there was one let down i found during our 4 nights at rio playa hostel being that when sharing with 14 other people the room can be quite hot, and with an air
conditioner which constantly gets turned off, makes it very difficult to sleep. If your looking for something to eat or drink, just out of the hostel and around the corner to the right there are a few taco stands which charge 7-10 pesos per taco, very tasty and defiantly worthwhile finding. Another place was 100% natural for a fresh morning smoothie for $3u.s
A good place for a short while, but defiantly not really good value for money overall.
